Mellon Udrigle - Evening Light

Mellon Udrigle - Evening Light - The North West Highlands
After 5 hours of driving from my home, I arrived on the beach about an hour before sunset. When shooting a sandy beach I am often drawn to patterns and textures, and I enjoy making simple compositions. A retreating tide left me a blank canvas to work with and thankfully there were no dog walkers around!

There are only a handful of sandy beaches in Scotland that have a mountainous background, and for me, there is something magical about this location. Chatting to other photographers that I've met here in previous visits, and they all seem to agree with me.

I'm pleased with this image mainly due to the elements coming together at the right time to bring interest to the sky, and the arrival of the squally shower in the distance.
