Kingsbarns Harbour

Near the golden sands at Kingsbarns lies the old harbour. Visitors can still see a portion of the harbour wall which is relatively intact and also some upright stone pillars.
The harbour was built in 1810, extended in the 1860's and was once able to accommodate vessels of up to 100 tonnes. However it rapidly deteriorated, and by the end of the century only small fishing boats were able to use it.
I visited the area for sunrise and at this time the high tide was just beginning to recede. I think the jumbled ruin of the harbour wall is an interesting contrast to the smooth sand and misty water (courtesy of the long exposure), however there's something about the sky in this one that really appeals to me, the colours were stunning and I quite like how the brightest part of the sky aligns with the faraway point of the old wall.
