Golden Light at Corran Sheileboist

Golden Light at Corran Sheileboist - The Outer Hebrides
May 2009

The dunes near Seilebost offer fantastic views over the Sound of Taransay to the hills of North Harris. I took this shot shortly before sunset.

A lack of clouds in the sky meant that there was not going to be a great deal of interest above the hills in the distance therefore I opted to concentrate on the golden side lighting that had made the grasses in the foreground come to life.

It was quite breezy, and I decided to try and capture the motion of the grasses by using a neutral density filter in order to lengthen the exposure. I knew this would result in a soft foreground but I was pleased that there were a few clusters of grass that were sheltered from the breeze.
