Seilbost in Winter

Seilbost in Winter - The Outer Hebrides
February 2010

From the edge of the dunes at Seilbost looking to the hills of North Harris at first light. It was a bitterly cold morning, and after a couple of days of wild weather beforehand, the calm conditions were a welcome respite.

I soon realised that a glorious sunrise would not be witnessed on this particular morning, however the landscape and waters of the Isle of Harris are remarkable in any light and I appreciated the subtle tones presented in the shallows ahead. I adopted this simple composition to condense the elements of the dunes and shoreline, with a view to the hills beyond that had received a fresh dusting of snow overnight.
